You buy a band, not a stack of seats. Hire five people and the invoice does not move until you reach the ceiling — so nobody has to weigh up whether a new colleague is worth another licence.
Direct messages, group chats, channels and their attachments are end-to-end encrypted on the Starter plan exactly as they are on Enterprise. Security you have to upgrade to buy is not security.
One command on your own Ubuntu machine and it is running in about five minutes, talking to no external service. Every plan can be deployed either way — the choice is yours, not a sales gate.
CompanionCore comes with every plan, not as a per-seat extra. Point it at a cloud model, bring your own API key, or run it on a local model so nothing leaves the building at all.
Cloud is a monthly subscription we run for you — updates, backups, certificates and uptime are ours to worry about. Self-hosted is a licence you buy once, plus a yearly renewal at 20% of the licence that keeps updates and support coming.
Because the licence is a single payment, self-hosting costs less than cloud from the first year in every band. Cloud earns its price back in the hours you do not spend running a server.
Self-hosted figures exclude the cost of your own machine. The installer runs on 2 vCPU and 4 GB of RAM; a VPS in that class is roughly €10–20 a month.

On cloud plans, in EU data centres. On a self-hosted deployment, wherever you put the server — we have no access to it, and it calls no external service.
Direct messages, group chats and channels are encrypted in your browser before they are sent, so we cannot read them. Files in CoreFiles are encrypted at rest with a key the server holds — so those we technically can, which is why we say it here rather than let you assume otherwise.

No. We use ECDH key agreement with AES-256-GCM. A Double Ratchet implementation is written and tested but is not yet the one carrying your messages, so we do not claim forward secrecy today. It is the next thing we ship.
You submit a data-subject request and an administrator fulfils it — export as JSON, CSV or ZIP, or full erasure. A breach register and consent history sit behind the same panel.
There is no Google Analytics, no Sentry, no advertising pixel — no third-party code receives your data. We do keep our own product analytics, and those sit behind a consent banner.
